AHW Super Fleece Stable Rug

This is a truly luxurious rug. Features a heavy duty loomstate canvas outer, and is fully lined with a 100% lambswool deep pile fleece. Has cross surcingles, shoulder gussets, double breast buckles, leg straps, generous tail flap, long drop and is fully bound. This is a very warm rug, and really comes into its own when used on clipped horses. The outer is tough enough to use it as a day rug, and the natural fibres make it breathable, in additon it is also fullly machine washable. Also available with ripstop nylon outer instead of canvas, as per above rug. Available in rug, hood and neck rug Colour:  Cream with blue check stripe and burgundy, navy or purple trim.

Quilted Lite Stable / Under Rug

Light weight 100 gm poly fill, diamond quilted nylon outer, fully lined with breathable brushed 100% cotton flannellette, features lined shoulders, double chest straps, and crossover surcinges. Extremely useful when just that little bit extra warmth is required, without adding extra weight. Easily washed and quick drying, this is a very handy rug, suited for stable, travel, or under rugging. Available in Rug, Neck Rug, Hood and combo Colour: Navy with choice of purple, burgundy, forest or pink trim.

Polarfleece Rug

These are the most amazing things and must be tried to be believed. They are light weight, warm, and ABSOLUTELY WATERPROOF! The only draw back is that they don't stand up well to a horse which abuses its rugs. Use as a dress rug, travel or under rug. They are easily machine washable and dry in no time. Features lined shoulders, removable leg straps and is fully bound. A tailbag fitting can be added if desired. These rugs are also breathable, and when put on a sweaty horse, will dry them off in no time so they make a great cooler rug for colder weather. Economy Woollen Rug

A good quality, warm wool blend rug. Fully bound, features PVC chest strap and webbing leg straps. Makes a great under or stable rug and is also good for travelling. Collarcheck Wool Rug

Traditional Collarcheck wool, (cream with blue and gold checks), it is perfect as a hard wearing stable or under rug, or even use it as a dress rug in winter. A very warm rug. Made from a tough 600 denier ripstop nylon outer, 200 gram dacron poly fill, with a 100% cotton brushed flanellette lining. It is machine washable, and features double breast buckles, lined shoulders, double surcingles, removable leg straps, and generous tailflap. Nylon outer is tough enough to be used as a day rug in the yard or paddock during dry weather. Neck rug and hood are short European style, to prevent slipping and gaping at the neckline. Available in rug, hood and neck rug Colour:  Slate grey with  choice of burgundy/white, navy purple or black trim.

Things to consider when purchasing a stable or under rug

The first thing you must consider is whether the horse is stabled or paddocked. The next consiration is whether the horse will be clipped or left with a natural coat. This is a big factor in deciding what rugs to use under your paddock rugs for the winter. Obviously you don't want to over rug your horse. If you feel that you need more than a winter paddock rug on an unclipped horse, then we would suggest not much more than a Lite Stable Rug with perhaps a Breeze used as an under sheet to keep your top rugs clean. If your horse is clipped or you are in a very cold region, then you could try our Super Paddock rug with a Lite Stable rug, or a lighter weight canvas rug with either a Nylon Ripstop Stable Rug or a Super Fleece Stable rug. For between seasons weather with cold nights and mild days, an unlined ripstop canvas with a Lite Stable rug or polarfleece rug works well as the horse will not get so hot during the day but still be warm enough at night. If the horse is stabled, then either a Super Fleece or Nylon Ripstop rug with maybe an unlined canvas. To get the best value from your rug choices requires some thoght before purchase - make sure you take the time to work out what you need in plenty of time before winter really hits.

An excellent concept, our suppliers are currently running stock of their newest product, which will be available mid September. This new fabric is made from 100% cotton, woven in the same style as the kersey blanket, giving a very similar effect, with a slightly flatter pile (ie, not as fluffy and soft). We have ordered a sample of this fabric, and we have high hopes that it will be well received. We anticipate that it will be popular as a summer dress rug, and for travelling, in fact, for everything that you'd use a winter kersey, you could use this rug for in summer.
